How to use this tool

- Preview the results, download individual files, or create a ZIP of successful results.
Settings and results
Light optimizes structure. Balanced and Strong also optimize supported embedded images. Existing text is kept; compression does not add OCR to a scanned document.
File storage and deletion
Files are uploaded and processed on the server. Originals and results are stored privately and accessed through their account or browser session; downloads use short-lived links. By default, files expire 24 hours after upload and are removed by the cleanup process. You can delete them earlier in your workspace. The current local default allowance is 20 uploaded files per 24 hours.

Why did the PDF not become smaller?
Text-heavy or previously optimized files can offer little room for compression. Unsupported image structures are preserved. If the result is not smaller, FormatOwl returns the original.
Does this certify PDF/A or preserve every interactive feature?
No. Review forms, colors and important pages after processing. Compression does not provide PDF/A recertification or guarantee every special interactive feature.
