How local tools, accounts and form data are handled.
2026/10/22
This policy describes data handling on the FormatOwl website. Send privacy questions or data requests through Contact or support@formatowl.com.
Public tools process selected files and entered text in your browser. Source content is not uploaded to a server for conversion or recognition. Inputs and results remain in the current page's memory; save results before leaving. Downloads are stored on your device.
Engines, models, language data and fonts may be downloaded from this site. Hosting and network services receive connection information, such as an IP address and request details, when serving those resources. This is separate from uploading source files.
Account information supports authentication, account management and security. Payment records support payment verification and account benefits; feedback supports replies, and subscription information supports product updates. Hosting, authentication, email, storage and payment providers process information needed for their functions. External services have their own policies.
We collect first-party aggregate visit statistics using a random browser-session cookie. We store its pseudonymous hash, UTC date and broad device category; signed-in visits also record the account ID and date for active-account counts. Individual visit/activity records are retained for up to 190 days. DNT and Global Privacy Control signals are respected, and admin visits are excluded. We do not collect raw IP addresses or browsing URLs in this analytics database. Third-party analytics and session replay remain disabled. Public tools do not send filenames, previews or input text as analytics events. Browser extensions, device software and external links you choose to visit have separate data practices.
Advanced-tool processing starts and first export authorizations are also counted by UTC day and tool ID, excluding administrators. Anonymous free-tool processing is not recorded; historical aggregates may include tools that are now free. These durable aggregate counters contain no account identifiers, file metadata or input content.
Local tools do not store cloud copies of files. Account, subscription, feedback and transaction records are retained as needed to provide the relevant service, resolve issues and meet applicable retention requirements. This policy does not promise one automatic deletion period for all records.
You can update your profile, unsubscribe in notification settings and use account deletion. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of data. We may need to verify your identity, and some transaction or security records may need to be retained.
See the cookie policy for sign-in, language and theme preferences. Camera and clipboard features request browser permission when you choose to use them. You can refuse or revoke permission in browser settings.
We publish revisions and their date on this page. Review the relevant notice when using a new service.
Advanced-tool authorization sends only tool IDs, random task IDs, input types, byte sizes and page counts, never filenames, source contents or results. Welcome balances, start months and monthly usage records are retained with the account and deleted with it. Task authorizations expire after 24 hours and are cleaned up on subsequent use. Legacy daily counters older than 31 days are cleaned up on later use. Free tools need no account authorization. Authentication, Pro membership checks and advanced exports require a network connection.
